Support your Parish Church

Your generosity is the cornerstone of our ability to fund our church, support our priests, and provide vital sacramental programs and services to the community. Your donations also help us cover the costs of heating, lighting, and maintaining the church, presbytery, and office, ensuring they remain in good condition for future generations.

We are grateful for your support

There are many ways to donate. However you choose to donate, GiftAid is very important.

Standing Orders

The most popular and direct support can be given by setting up a standing order with your bank to make regular payments to the parish. A standing order is easy to set up, manage and change, and regular income is very helpful as, like households, parish bills are regular too.

How to Set Up a Standing Order:

Via a standing order form

Send the form to your bank and a copy to the parish office via letter box, post, or email so we can verify receipts and apply any Gift Aid.

For hard copy forms, please contact the parish office.

Via your Banking App:

Please, make payments to National Westminster Bank, sort code 60-50-01, account number 79112196, Holy Ghost Parish, Balham. Use your name as the description.

If you chose to use your banking app please do not forget to inform the parish office of your name, donation amount, and frequency, so that we can check receipts on the bank statement and for any Gift Aid.

DONA

DONA is software that helps charitable organizations such the Archdiocese of Southwark, which is the registered charity to which our parish belongs, to increase their income.  You can make donations in different ways on DONA

DONA Card readers

You can donate using debit or credit cards via DONA card readers available at the back of the church.

These devices are easy to use and, if you are a UK taxpayer, allow you to include Gift Aid with your donation. As a UK taxpayer, donating the Gift Aid is at no additional cost to you and it is of significant help to the parish finances.

DONA website

The DONA system also allows online donations.

The website can also be accessed by a QR code which is displayed in the church and can be found in the Parish newsletter.

Other methods

There are other methods used to support the parish:

Cash

Contribute via the Gift Aid Envelope scheme or place your donation in the collection point at the rear of the church. While cash donations are welcome, we encourage other methods as cash is less frequently used.

For further details, please download the attached Holy Ghost Planned Giving and Gift Aid Form, you can also request a hard copy from the parish office.

The Just Giving page

The JustGiving webpage allows you to make a donation online. Please note, the JustGiving account is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Southwark, which is the registered charity to which our parish belongs.

Rest assured, any donation you make via this page will go directly to help our parish, just as the Sunday collection normally does.

GIFT AID

Gift Aid is a scheme available to charities and it means that, if you pay UK income tax and make a donation from your own funds, we can reclaim the basic rate of income tax on your donation.  This means we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate at no cost to you!

Higher rate taxpayers can reclaim the difference between the basic and higher rates on their tax return.

How to Sign Up for Gift Aid:

  • If you donate via Dona or JustGiving you will be asked if you wish to complete a GiftAid declaration.
  • Obtain a form from the parish office, complete and return it to the parish office via letter box, post, or email so that we can register the details and arrange to reclaim Gift Aid.
  • For any further details, please contact the Gift Aid Coordinator, Eamonn Doran, [email protected]
