Choral Scholarship Opportunities at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Balham (2025–2026)

Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Balham is looking to appoint four Choral Scholars (SATB) to support and augment the parish’s volunteer adult choir, and offer high-level musical leadership. The main liturgical commitment is the Sunday morning mass (11AM for 11:30AM), Christmas, Holy Week, and occasional weekday evening masses for feasts and solemnities. 

The scholarship is ideal for those in full or part-time undergraduate or postgraduate study, recent graduates, or those at the beginning of their singing careers. It would benefit those seeking experience making music liturgically, working firsthand within a parish context.

This scholarship, starting on 28 September 2025, will offer: 

  • Renumeration of £1700 p.a.
  • Experience and training in choral singing
  • Opportunities of leadership in sight-singing and musicianship
  • Knowledge of Catholic Church music history and practice

Applicants should have:

i) The ability to learn music quickly and sing confidently

ii) A positive attitude and eagerness to lead, learn and develop

iii) A professional approach to commitments
